Kenwood K-8 Center, offers a diverse range of programs to educate the whole child. Our school provides a comprehensive and inclusive academic environment designed to meet the unique needs of every student. With a focus on personalized learning and academic excellence, our programs cater to a diverse range of learners, including gifted students, children with hearing impairments, and those with special educational needs.

Gifted education
Our Gifted Education Program is designed to challenge and inspire academically advanced students, fostering their intellectual curiosity and creativity. Through a differentiated curriculum, students engage in critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovative projects that stretch their potential across subjects like STEM, humanities, and the arts. Teachers use advanced instructional strategies to ensure each student is appropriately challenged, helping them develop a lifelong passion for learning. Kenwood offers a full-time gifted program that begins in Kindergarten.
Deaf & Hard of Hearing Program
This program provides a supportive learning environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The program focuses on language development, social-emotional skills, and academic proficiency, with a strong emphasis on inclusion and promoting full participation in school life. Our DHH program starts in PK3.

(Auditory/Oral Program)

Voluntary PreK (VPK)
The VPK program is designed to prepare young children for success in kindergarten and beyond. With a focus on early literacy, social development, and foundational math skills, our VPK program offers a rich and engaging environment where children can explore, create, and develop essential skills. Experienced teachers work with small groups to ensure individualized attention and foster a love of learning from the very beginning.
Cambridge International
The Cambridge International Program offers students an academically rigorous, globally recognized curriculum. With an emphasis on critical thinking, inquiry-based learning, and real-world applications, the program prepares students for success in higher education and beyond. Students take part in globally benchmarked assessments and can earn internationally recognized qualifications, opening doors to opportunities around the world.


Exceptional Student Education
Our Exceptional Student Education (ESE) program is tailored for students with disabilities, providing individualized support to ensure they have access to a high-quality education. Whether a student needs accommodations, modifications, or specialized instruction, we work closely with families to create personalized education plans that help each child reach their full potential. Our goal is to foster independence, build self-advocacy, and ensure academic success in an inclusive setting.
Computer Science
Our Computer Science Program empowers students to explore the rapidly evolving world of technology. From coding and robotics to game design and artificial intelligence, students gain hands-on experience with the tools and skills needed to succeed in the digital age. We offer a variety of courses tailored to different skill levels, preparing students for higher education and careers in tech industries.


Art
Our Art program encourages creativity, self-expression, and visual literacy. Students explore a variety of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art, while learning about famous artists, art history, and different artistic techniques. Both elementary and middle school students have the opportunity to take Art at Kenwood. The Art program fosters innovation and allows students to showcase their work in exhibitions, inspiring them to explore the world through an artistic lens.
Music
In our Music program, students immerse themselves in the world of sound, rhythm, and melody. From learning to play instruments to exploring vocal performance, students develop a strong foundation in music theory and practice. We are proud to offer music to Kindergarten through 5th grade students. Music education not only enhances cognitive development but also fosters teamwork and discipline through group performances and ensemble work.


Dance
Our Dance program is designed to nurture creativity, movement, and physical expression. Students explore various styles of dance, from classical ballet to modern, jazz, and hip-hop. Middle school students can choose Dance as an elective course. Dance students have the opportunity to perform in school productions and showcase their talents in a supportive and encouraging environment. Through dance, students learn the value of discipline, teamwork, and creative expression.
