Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
Kenwood K-8 Center has a closed campus policy. Our students' safety is our priority. Under no circumstances are visitors allowed to access areas/classrooms they have not been explicitly authorized to access; such actions will be deemed to constitute trespassing. The following procedures will be used for arrival and dismissal.

Arrival procedures
Morning Arrival Drop Off
Prekindergarten-2nd Grade students will use 79th Avenue as the designated carpool lane for morning arrival. Prekindergarten students assigned to Ms. Solis’ class will be escorted directly to the classroom by their parent/guardian for morning arrival.
3rd-5th Grade students will use 80th Avenue as the designated carpool lane for morning arrival.
6th-8th Grade students will use the Middle School driveway as the designated carpool lane for morning arrival.
dismissal procedures
Afternoon Dismissal/Pick-Up
All elementary students have been provided dismissal signs with their name, teacher name and grade level written on them. The dismissal signs must be displayed on the right side of the vehicle’s dashboard.
Prekindergarten-2nd Grade students will use 79th Avenue as the designated carpool lane for afternoon dismissal.
3rd-5th Grade students will use 80th Avenue as the designated carpool lane for afternoon dismissal.
6th-8th Grade students will use the Middle School driveway as the designated carpool lane for afternoon dismissal.


Bus Zone
-79th Avenue has a designated drop-off and pick-up zone for MDCPS school buses.
-79th Avenue has a designated drop-off and pick-up zone for PK-8th grade students who are transported by private carriers.
Walkers
Parents of students that walk their child(ren) to school will use the 79th Avenue Main Entrance, 80th Avenue pedestrian gate and/or Middle School pedestrian gate for arrival and dismissal.
Inclement Weather
Pre-Kindergarten-2nd grade students will be dismissed from the Main Cafeteria via the covered walkway.
3rd-5th grade students will be dismissed via the covered walkway on 80th Avenue.
6th-8th grade students will be dismissed via the covered entrance on the middle school driveway.
Staff and Faculty Parking Lots are OFF LIMITS to parents. This is for staff parking ONLY! Parking inside the lot to drop off your child prevents staff from being available to receive students in class on time. Additionally, having your child walk through the parking lot jeopardizes your child’s safety. Please refrain from using all parking lots.
The Athletics Office and Greenery Mall are not authorized drop off or pick up locations.
